Marty Fischer’s journey in the hunting and shooting industry began in his hometown of southeast Georgia near Savannah. After graduating from Georgia Southern College in 1974 with a BS Degree in Speech-Public Relations, Marty’s career took an exciting turn when he became the Vice President and General Manager of Cherokee Rose Shooting Resort in Griffin, Georgia, from April 1990 to December 1992.
In January 1993, Marty founded SportShooting Consultants, Ltd, a company specializing in gun club design, event target setting, management, and business consulting for the hunting and clay target industries. Throughout his career, Marty has left an indelible mark on the shooting world, having designed and set competition targets on over 175 sporting courses across North America.
His impressive clientele includes renowned personalities and organizations such as the Ted Turner family, Henry Kravis of Kohlberg, Kravis and Roberts, Los Angeles Dodgers owner Mark Walters, and hotelier Richard Kessler, among others. Marty’s expertise in course design and target installation has earned him recognition and respect within the industry.
Notable recent projects include the redesign of the Brays Island Sporting Clays course in South Carolina, championship layouts for the Clark County Shooting Park in Las Vegas, Nevada, and various venues at Pursell Farms in Alabama, Garland Mountain Sporting Clays facility in Georgia, The Kiawah Sporting Club in South Carolina, and Dead Zero Shooting Park in Tennessee.
Marty’s remarkable contributions extend beyond design and instruction, as he became one of the first National Sporting Clays Association (NSCA) Level III Shooting Instructors, the highest instructor level awarded by the NSCA. He also serves as the Head Coach of the Georgia Southern University Clay Target Team, leading them to back-to-back ACUI divisional national championships in 2021 and 2022.
With multiple ongoing design projects and a passion for coaching and mentoring, Marty Fischer continues to leave a lasting impact on the shooting community, elevating the sport to new heights and inspiring a new generation of shooters.
