About Us

Justin Barker, from Warner Robins, Georgia, grew up bird hunting with family and quickly became at home with a shotgun in his hands. In 2016 he dove into sporting clays, traveling nationwide to shoot everything from small local events to major tournaments like the U.S. Open. His mission was simple—see as many targets as possible and learn from every course and every target setter. By 2017 he was fully committed, shooting nonstop and building friendships with national champions, world champions, and Olympians.

Around this time, Justin discovered podcasts and searched for one focused on sporting clays. When he found none, he created one. After recording an 18-minute test episode, he launched Behind The Break, a show that quickly became a go-to resource for shooters around the world.

In 2020, Justin launched Shotgun Sports USA, expanding the focus to all shotgun disciplines and the people, companies, and stories behind the sport. The show released weekly episodes from October 20, 2020, until taking a short break in 2025—and is set to return stronger than ever in 2026.

Beginning in 2026, the podcast will broaden even further, diving into everything related to hunting: the people, the gear, the places, and the action, while still covering the competitive shotgun world.
